iPhone 17 Air vs Galaxy S26 Edge: Battery War Begins

Samsung’s next flagship in its Edge series, the Galaxy S26 Edge 5G, is likely to feature a larger battery as compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Edge, which was launched in India earlier this year.

The Galaxy S25 Edge gained attention for its slim profile and high-end specifications, but its 3900mAh battery raised concerns among users. In response to user feedback, Samsung is reportedly planning to upgrade the battery capacity in the upcoming Galaxy S26 Edge to 4400mAh, according to a leak shared by tipster Setsuna Digital on Weibo.

If the report holds true, the new battery would place the S26 Edge between the S25 and S25 Plus models in terms of power reserve. The enhanced battery capacity could also give the device an edge over Apple’s next-gen iPhone 17 Air, which is expected to include a 2900mAh unit.

While both phones aim for slimmer builds, Samsung seems to be addressing battery concerns by adjusting internal design to support higher capacity. The comparison with Apple’s model further adds competitive pressure as brands race to balance aesthetics with functionality.

Samsung is also expected to overhaul its flagship lineup in 2026. Leaks indicate that the company may drop the standard S26 and S26 Plus variants and instead introduce the Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra as the new standard models.

With internal testing underway and early leaks fueling interest, full confirmation on the battery upgrade and model lineup is expected during Samsung’s official launch event next year.
